USA Jump Stars was founded by Melinda Everett in an effort to promote physical education to children of all ages.  Melinda began jumping rope in 1992. She took home the Gold Medal for Female Single Rope Freestyle in 1995 at the 29th AAU Junior Olympic Games, the first to include jump rope as a sport.  In 1998 she graduated High School and in 2000 became the coach of her hometown team, The Coronado Speed Spinners.  Melinda still coaches the team (Who recently starred in a McDonald’s commercial and an episode of “Glee”) and she has performed voluntarily in over 300 “Jump Rope for Heart” fundraising shows for the American Heart Association.
